Amy Gahran is a journalist, editor and writer based in Boulder, Colorado. Her journalism has appeared in CNN.com, Entrepreneur.com and many other media outlets, mostly covering energy, the environment, mobile technology and business.
For many years Amy worked closely for many years with the Society of Environmental Journalists. She also covered hyperlocal independent media for the John S. And James L. Knight Foundation, and the intersection of journalism and technology for the Poynter Institute.
From 2012-15 Amy published the blog SoloPoly.net, under the pen name Aggie Sez — which since has stuck as a nickname, she answers to both. During its run, this blog vastly increased awareness of individuals who explore polyamory without having or wanting a life-entwined “nesting” relationship.
One of her early posts to this blog, Riding the Relationship Escalator, or Not? (Nov. 29, 2012) attracted attention from well beyond the polyamory community. It has been cited in hundreds of blog posts, news stories, and even scholarly papers. The extraordinarily widespread interest in that post sparked her Off the Escalator publishing project. The first book in this series, Stepping Off the Relationship Escalator: Uncommon Love and Life, was published in February 2017.
Amy speaks at conferences and events on unconventional relationships and other topics.
